Tomb Raider Live Action Update - Sophie Turner is Lara Croft

Sophie Turner confirmed as Lara Croft in upcoming Prime Video new series Tomb Raider.

Phoebe Waller-Bridge serves as creator, writer, executive producer, and co-showrunner.

Jonathan Van Tulleken will serve as director and executive producer and Chad Hodge joins as co-showrunner.

Amazon MGM Studios confirms January 19th, 2026 as the start of production for the live-action adaptation of Tomb Raider.

Sophie Turner, who has been cast in the role of Lara Croft, had this to say: “I am thrilled beyond measure to be playing Lara Croft. She’s such an iconic character, who means so much to so many - and I am giving everything I’ve got. They’re massive shoes to fill, following in the steps of Angelina and Alicia with their powerhouse performances, but with Phoebe at the helm, we (and Lara) are all in very safe hands. I can’t wait for you all to see what we have cooking.”

Phoebe Waller-Bridge (Fleabag, Killing Eve) serves as writer, executive producer and co-showrunner: “I’m so excited to announce the formidable Sophie Turner as our Lara alongside this phenomenal creative team. Prime Video also confirms Jonathan Van Tulleken as director and executive producer, with Chad Hodge joining as co-showrunner.

Tomb Raider the series is based on the iconic Tomb Raider video game franchise, which follows the adventures of world-famous archaeologist and adventurer Lara Croft.
